Is the RV lifestyle for you? Rent one and find out Industry Members
OKEMOS, Mich.—There are many factors to take into account when deciding what type of recreation vehicle is going be right for you. Motorized or towable? Class A or class C? Folding camper or travel trailer? With so many options, how do you know which type of RV is going to be the right one? Some experience RV travel for the first time by renting one. Many RV dealers offer rental options, allowing you the opportunity to try-before-you-buy.

RV vacations offer greater control and a more flexible way to travel, allowing you to bring with you all the comforts of home. The Michigan Association of Recreation Vehicles and Campgrounds (MARVAC) has at least 30 member dealers who offer state-of-the-art RV rentals in a range of sizes and styles. The type, size and available features vary by dealer. Folding campers, travel trailers, class A and class C motorhomes are available for rent. Now, before you worry about deciding which one to rent, your RV rental dealer will help you make a selection, as well as demonstrate how to operate the unit before you leave for your trip.

Motorhomes average $90 to $200 per day; folding campers and travel trailers average $50 to $120 per day. Remember, this fee includes what you would normally spend on transportation, sleeping accommodations, dining and so much more. Some dealers offer packages of three to 10 days. RV vacations are more affordable than traveling by personal car, airline or cruise ship, even with higher gasoline prices. A study by PKF Consulting found that a family of four could spend 27 percent to 61 percent less when traveling by RV.

RV rentals have certainly increased in popularity among consumers. The RV Rental Association (RVRA) reports significant growth in domestic rentals since 2002. The RV rental business is now an over $350 million industry. RV rentals are expected to grow 18 percent, according to a recent survey by RVRA.
