OKEMOS, Mich.-Traveling used to mean giving up life's "basics"-CD players, TVs, video-game systems and computers. But now, with multiple television jacks, you can watch your favorite show from a luxury, queen-sized bed or in front of a beautiful, gas fireplace. Today's RVs-loaded with innovative features and cool gadgets-are attracting new generations of buyers.
The most popular electronic gadgets found on RVs are regular and flat screen TVs, satellite dishes, video-game systems, cellular phones, laptops and PCs, and surround sound CD and DVD players with individual headphones, according to Recreational Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA) surveys. Some high-tech options include automatic leveling systems and circuit rear-view cameras for backing up. Various RVs also come equipped with power curtains/shades; touch screens to control the RV's environment; seats with built-in heat and massage; built-in recharging stations for two-way radios; automatic ice makers; freezers that fit in the RVs "basement;" docking stations for portable coolers; and fold-out, exterior barbecue grills.
Other options include slide-out walls that expand to create a larger living space for more comfort. Slide-out awnings provide a shaded area for sitting outside, enjoying nature and, at night, simply switch on patio lights and enjoy the outdoors as the stars appear. Thanks to Global Positioning Systems (GPS), you won't ever have to stop and ask for directions; these electronic mapping systems chart your course and identify your current location.
Due to many improvements, traveling is more comfortable and convenient than ever. Leather reclining chairs and leather sofas invite relaxation in the living room. If you have a hard time leaving the office for a week or so, take it with you! Bedrooms aboard these high-tech RVs convert into mobile offices complete with a dedicated spot for computer and Internet jacks. In fact, according to RVIA, 24 percent of owners now access the Internet from their RVs.
RV kitchens include microwaves, three-burner range tops, range hoods with vents, ovens, double sinks, built-in spice racks and pantries-enough to delight the chef of the family.
Lounge in the beautiful bedrooms with cedar-lined wardrobes, plush carpeting and light-filtering drapes. To bring the outdoors in, kitchens and bathrooms have skylights.
Personal watercrafts, motorcycles, snowmobiles and all-terrain vehicles can be easily transported with today's new RVs. They include sport utility trailers and motorhomes with built-in "garages," some with hydraulic lifts for easy loading.
Whatever you consider a basic necessity when traveling, you'll find it on today's new fleet of recreation vehicles. You'll find yourself at home away from home!
