OKEMOS, Mich.-Every year, festivals and events fill the streets of many towns in Michigan, from Port Huron's Bacardi Bayview Mackinac Race to Grand Haven's Coast Guard Festival, and the Michigan State Fair in Detroit to the Summer Music Fest in Frankenmuth. Gather up the family and head out in your RV to a MARVAC member campground and discover the small town festivals and big city events Michigan has to offer.

July welcomes the 82nd Annual Bacardi Bayview Mackinac Race in Port Huron (www.byc.com). On July 15, watch one of the most famous, freshwater, long distance yacht races in the world start just a few miles north of the Blue Water Bridge. Enjoy staying in your RV at one of the MARVAC member campgrounds near Port Huron including the Port Huron KOA in Kimball (www.koa.com), Emmett KOA (www.govacation.com), and the Ruby Family Campground in Avoca (www.rubycampground.com).

From July 28 to August 6, Grand Haven will honor the 216-year-old Coast Guard with its 82nd Annual Coast Guard Festival (www.ghcgfest.org). This 10-day festival features ship tours, a National Memorial Service at Escanaba Park honoring the men and women serving in the Coast Guard, a televised Grand Parade, ship tours, a carnival, entertainment, a kid's parade, craft fairs, 5K and 10K Coast Guard run, and a Grand Finale Fireworks display. Enjoy staying at Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park (www.ghjellystone.com) in Grand Haven.

August brings the Michigan State Fair (www.michigan.gov/mda) to Detroit from August 23 to September 4. The fair features animal exhibits, contests, and displays of country life, pig races, midway rides, kid's fishing activities, concerts and entertainment. The Summer Music Fest in Frankenmuth runs August 11 to 19 (www.frankenmuth.org). Enjoy all types of music including polka, rock and roll, Christian contemporary and big band. Dance the night away on the large wooden dance floor and enjoy the food and drinks afterward.
