Michigan RV statistics
There are approximately 8.9 million American households that own an RV—up from 7.9 million in 2005. Here are some other notable facts and statistics:
- In 2011, RV manufacturers shipped 252,300 units, an increase of 4.18% from the 242,300 units shipped in 2010. This was the highest annual total for RV shipments in the past three years.
- A 2011 vacation cost comparison study showed that a family of four can save 23 to 59 percent on vacation costs by traveling in an RV, even after factoring in ownership costs and fuel.
- The Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA) estimates there are as many as 30 million RV enthusiasts nationwide, including RV renters.
